Evesham was originally named Homme or Haum and recorded as Eveshomme in 709 and Evesham in 1086. The town was formed around one of the largest abbeys in Europe during the 8th-century. Only Abbot Lichfield’s Bell Tower remains as it was destroyed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
The Vale of Evesham is also well known for its asparagus, as some of my customers will already know, this is something I have had an involvement in for many years as my Father-in-law is a local grower of asparagus. Great for freebies, not so good on your back when I have to lend a hand though!
